The INNOVATIVE MOUNTS Competition/Traction Bar Kit is designed to increase the rigidity and stability of the vehicle’s front suspension . By tying-in the front lower control arms to the frame, the front suspension becomes more solid, thus increasing traction and eliminating wheel-hop.
Do traction bars help with traction?
Traction bars are a solid bar on either side of the axle that connects to the frame with heim joints. This allows the suspension to still function properly while preventing axle wrap. Traction bars make sure all the torque is applied to the wheels and helps keep you going straight down the road without slipping.
What does a traction bar do FWD?
A common mod for FWD guys also is Traction Bars. Anytime you move a FWD car forcibly in any direction, the front control arms and bushings flex due to load, decreasing traction and stability. Traction bars hold it all together, keeping everything from flexing, and thus losing traction.
Are traction bars universal?
universal traction bars are designed to strengthen your rear suspension and control that hop. These bars are made for vehicles with leaf springs mounted below the axle tube. They are made of heavy-gauge rectangular steel tubing.
Do traction bars affect ride quality?
4) Even set up correctly, bars do reduce ride quality.
Are traction bars good for off road?
A properly installed traction bar will prolong the life of your drivetrain and suspension components in addition to increasing traction both on and off road.
Why do FWD cars have wheel hop?
“Wheel hop can be caused by a variety of things, from the wrong shocks to a better surface than the tire can handle or more power than the tire can handle, but the biggest thing that we really see is bushing deflection within the suspension system,” Epple said.
How can I improve my FWD traction?
Ditch the front sway bar, get used to turning in earlier, but allowing the springs to keep the tires in contact with the road helps quite a bit. Swaybars can lift the inside wheel in a corner, especially if they are yuge as most are on FWD cars due to their very nature.
Do you need an alignment after installing traction bars?
Generally no. Usually all that is affected, is steering wheel position (It was more than likely adjusted last when track bar had play). Toe is unchanged as you are only replacing track bar, which is frame to axle. Although an alignment is never a bad idea.
How tight should traction bars be?
Looses the lock nut and turn until there is slight pressure on the rear axle. Don’t try to crank down, just hand tight until it wont spin and more by hand.
